215 Years of Sweet Maple Serenity

What is a senior to do when graduation is looming in the distance and the pressures of the real world are building up all around her? Throw caution to the wind, grab a few friends and head to Vermont, of course!

On Sunday afternoon the girls and I packed up the van and headed to Northriver Winery for a tasting and tour. After all, what is better than drinking thimbleful after thimbleful of fruit wine served by earthy Vermonters?

Answer: purchasing cases of fruit wine from aforementioned Vermonters.

The wine was indeed delicious, especially the Vermont Harvest, which I'm told is akin to a sweet sherry. Apples, cinnamon and maple syrup making friends with white wine? Yes, please. The girls and I are planning to mull on Friday for cocktail hour. And then bathe in it. And have it read us a story. And tuck us into bed. Austin can be seen above scheming ways to smuggle out an entire vat of the stuff. The van is quite spacious, you know.

A splendid time was had by all, as is evident by the blurry nature of the above photo. Our earthy wine guru leads a soft-focused kind of life.

The day ended with a visit to the Sprague Sugar House in Jacksonville. There's nothing quite like sipping Dixie cups of syrup while seeing the many maple offerings of Vermont being created before your eyes.
